We Are Thankful for the STANGS Club

1st & 2nd semester members of the STANGS club.

We have so many great staff, students, and community members at Shawnee Heights to be thankful for as we enter the holiday season.

One of these great groups is the STANGS Club at Tecumseh South. This group teaches leadership and community service skills. Many students take turns each semester to be a part of this club and give their free time to participate.

The students will tell you that they love being part of the club because it teaches them how to be a leader and gives them a chance to help their school and community. Some of the projects that the STANGS Club help with is taking out the school recycling, setting up and taking down the school carnival, assisting with bingo night, the talent show, and making posters for different fundraiser events in the community.

The STANGS Club's latest project has been raising money for Willow, “the strongest little lady in the school” said Mr. Dial. Willow has had three heart surgeries in her young life already. The STANGS club made posters, sold and applied washable tattoos and sold raffle tickets for a hoverboard. The STANGS club and the Tecumseh South community was able to raise $1500.43 for Willow.

As we enter the holiday season and think of things that we are thankful for, we can add the STANGS Club to our list. These students share a wonderful quality of excitement in helping others and giving back to the community.
